1927-The Shanghai Massacre
The Shanghai police
- Ordered by general Chiang Kai-shek during the northern expedition
- The Peoples Liberation Army (PLA)
- Before dawn on April 12th gang members began to attack district offices controlled by the union workers
- Kai-shek ordered the 26th army to disarm the workers' militias, resulting in more than 300 people being killed and injured
- The union workers organized a mass meeting denouncing Kai-shek, and thousands of workers and students protested
- Soldiers opened fire and killed 100 people, and many more were wounded
- Over 1000 communists were arrested, some 300 were officially executed, and more than 5,000 went missing
